When I joined the VH Designs team as the studio manager, I had no idea what the event world entailed. Transitioning from a life long career in horse training and farm management to floral and event decor was quite the lifestyle change! My event experience was limited to attending parties – never considering all of the time and effort that went on behind the scenes to ensure I had a great time as a guest. Sure, I noticed the centerpieces, the music, and the food, but it was always the little things that left a lasting impression. Throughout my time here I have come to really appreciate these details and all of the work that goes into the final product. Here are some of my favorite event additions that I have learned to love (and wish I knew about before my own wedding!)
Custom Dance Floors – I had no idea this was an option! They are such a fun way to add a unique and personal touch to any party. From custom monogram applications to full vinyl wrapping and custom prints – the options are endless. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be spending most of your time dancing, which makes this the upgrade a must have! Beyond aesthetics, these custom dance floors are also functional, providing a safe, slip-resistant surface for your guests to bust a move without worrying about the inevitably spilled champagne. Dance floors have also become my specialty here so I can’t help but be a little biased!
Lighting – Lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood and atmosphere of an event. Of course we all appreciate the candlelight, but there are so many additional options. Pinspot lighting can be crucial! They can used strategically to highlight key areas and enhance event decor. As the room lights go down, pinspots will allow your centerpieces to continue to shine. Uplights can transform a whole space. From soft colors for weddings to bright colors for parties and Mitzvahs, they are super adaptable for any event. Spotlights and gobos, which project patterns or logos, draw attention to focal points like the aisle, dance floor, or stage, adding a personalized touch. For high-energy events, LEDs and moving lights can create dynamic effects that follow the beat of the music, adding excitement and encouraging people to dance. 
Upgrading furniture and dinnerware – This is a sure fire way to significantly elevate the overall experience and create a lasting impression. Premium furniture, like lounge seating or stylish dining chairs, enhances both comfort and aesthetics, giving any venue a sophisticated and cohesive look. They make the perfect place to take a break from dancing or chat with friends. Similarly, upgrading dinnerware to include elegant plates, cutlery, and glassware adds a refined touch to the dining experience. I can’t tell you how often we talk about the beautiful pink glass water goblets from one of our weddings earlier this year so I’m sure their guests are too!
